Early Charm Announces Hiring of Sophie Taczak as Research Associate

Taczak will focus on research and product development with Early Charm’s

Custom Materials and Engineered Products portfolio of companies

August 30, 2021, Baltimore, MD – Early Charm, a company that creates, owns and operates ventures that convert science to revenue, today announced the hiring of Sophie Taczak – a chemist with expertise in chemical synthesis, chemical engineering and biological systems – as Research Associate.

Taczak’s role at Early Charm will center on advancing development of custom materials and engineered products with Early Charm’s Materic Group companies.

In addition to her Early Charm work, Taczak will continue pursuing her PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

“We’re very glad to have Sophie – a native Marylander – join our Early Charm team,” said Ken Malone, Executive Officer with Early Charm. “Sophie’s extensive background in chemistry and chemical engineering is a perfect fit with our growing team of scientists who are focused on new product development and revenue growth.”

In her most recent professional role, Taczak served as a scientific intern with Virginia-based Applied Technology, Inc., working on design and development of a proof-of-concept field measurement technique to passively measure optical transmittance and turbulence in a maritime environment.

Taczak’s significant academic-based research and lab experience centers on gas chromatography, vacuum filtrations, neutralizations, silica plugs, thin layer chromatography and liquid-liquid extractions. She also has focused research and lab work on reflux reactions and volumetric calibrations (such as burets and volumetric flasks).

Taczak is a graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland with a B.S. in Chemistry and with minors in Material Science and the Fine Arts.
