Stein joins the Minnowtech team at its Hawaii office to work with local shrimp
farmers to improve their production efficiency and sustainability efforts
August 3, 2021, Kekaha, HI – Minnowtech, an aquaculture technology company that enables shrimp farmers to calculate shrimp abundance for optimizing feed and harvest, today announced the hiring of Laura Stein as Aquaculture Industry Analyst. Minnowtech is an Early Charm portfolio company.
Stein, a native of Baltimore, MD, brings a diverse background in environmental and
social sciences, including natural resource management, wildlife ecology, forestry, plus public outreach and education.
With Minnowtech, Stein will join the team at its Hawaii office and work with local shrimp farmers to improve their production efficiency and sustainability efforts. In her previous work, Stein collaborated with landowners, government agencies, and non-profit partners to develop and implement ecological restoration projects within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

Stein holds a BS in Environmental Science from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a MS in International Conservation and Development from the University of Montana. Her independent graduate research examined the experiences of female coffee producers in Costa Rica and their perspectives on certification programs such as fair trade.
