Subsidiaries
Centralized Team, Efficient Growth
Much like a real estate developer uses separate LLCs to hold individual properties while operating them centrally, we form a separate subsidiary for each technology we license. This structure isn’t about running independent businesses; it’s about targeted ownership and managing risk.

When we license a technology from a university, we typically agree to defer all past and future patent expenses. In exchange, rather than paying significant upfront cash, we provide the university with equity in the subsidiary. We also allocate equity to the inventors. Most of the time Early Charm retains supermajority ownership.
All technologies are operated by a single, centralized team at Early Charm. There are no independent management teams or separate operations. The subsidiary structure is strictly legal and financial. It doesn’t reflect how we execute the work.
This model allows us to advance multiple technologies using the most capital efficient means.
